Students were tasked with picking a quote that would be engraved and installed on walls inside of the Everett McKinley Dirksen United States Courthouse. They had to explain why they picked the quote in 75 words or less. Congratulations to the students who were selected:

6th Grade Submission:  Ahni K.
"If people doubt how far you can go, go so far that you can't hear them anymore." -- Michele Ruiz
This quote reminds me to live my dream. Adults and kids can be constantly trying to do something else. The pressure teens feel can be out of control, but this quote reminds me to do what I love even if nobody thinks I can. I can! I'll do it to show them this is who I am.

7th Grade Submission:  Lukas W.
"The most important day of your life is tomorrow. The past is the past but the future is yours." -- Nicholas Stewart (a.k.a. Jynxzi)
The past is garbage. I have to worry about my future and what I'm going to do with it. Although mistakes we've made make us who we are, we have to move forward in order to get ahead.

8th Grade Submission:  Camila P.
"You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough." -- Bob Desaulets
Not everything has to go the way other people plan. If you just go by the rulebook, you'll never get to experience life without being ashamed of doing something wrong. People live day by day, not knowing what could happen next, but if you live in the moment, every small detail of your day could be a memory that makes life worth living.
